Helicopter Commercial Pilot
Learning to fly helicopters will be one of the most rewarding and satisfying things you do. We at TH-Aviation-ConneXions - Pilot Training Solutions offer helicopter training (HPPL & HCPL) to take your flying to new levels of experience and competence. The training school and the airport at Wonderboom (Pretoria) offers the ideal training situation as it allows the student to learn to fly in a controlled airspace with student friendly air traffic controllers. The airport is also well situated for short cross-countries to the many game farms in the General flying area or Sun City.
At the flying school your flying training will be completed on the agile and manoeuvrable Robinson R22, a piston engine two-seater helicopter. We have access to a variety of aircraft - light piston helicopters like the Robinson R22 and R44 together with single turbine aircraft such as the Bell 206 JetRanger.
We offer training for Private Pilots Licence, Commercial Licence and type rating conversions - Instructors Rating, Game Rating and Night Rating. Comprehensive advanced and refresher training for licence holders are also provided, tailored to suit each individual.
We are pleased to offer an affordable and fun introductory flight/first lesson to prospective students. The intro flights consists of one hour flight during which time the student will be introduced to controlling the aircraft and will actually be on the controls during most of the flight.

Helicopter Technical & General All flight time does count towards the rating being persued. Additionally the student will have the opportunity to spend time with the instructor before and after the flight, discussing questions he or she may have about helicopter flight.
During your advanced training a cross-country can be conducted to our base in the lowveld which will include flight training and performance of the aircraft at lower altitudes as well as mountain flying.
COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENCE - CPL(H):
Requires 200 hours of helicopter flying 150 hours over and above the hours flown for HPPL resp. PPL(H). If you already have a Fixed-Wing Commercial Licence, the requirement for the helicopter Commercial Licence (HCPL) requires only a 100 hours on helicopters. This is also vice versa valid: Once you have your helicopter CPL you only need to fly 100hrs on a fixed wing and pass exams to get your fixed wing CPL.
Other requirements are CPL Medical, General Radio License, 8 examinations written at the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) and a flight test carried out by a designated examiner.
TH-Aviation-ConneXions will accommodate your personal requirements for your flight training from ab-initio training through to commercial pilot training, as well as various ratings, for example game rating, night rating, sling rating, safety pilot rating and type ratings.
